A Glance at Chapter 12

“Slow down, Virgil!” yelled Red. “We don’t need the cops pulling us over.”

Virgil sped out of the parking lot, recklessly navigating the van up the winding mountain road.

Virgil smiled, exposing his missing teeth. “Geez, Red, you whine like a little girl.”

The van started to shake violently. Virgil looked in the side-view mirror just as the left rear tire broke loose and bounced across the road. Sparks flew and the smell of hot metal and asphalt permeated the van. The van swerved. Virgil fought to keep control, but it was too late. The van flipped and rolled down the side of the mountain, landing upside down. A large tree stopped it from plummeting down the steep hill.
